Meet Jérôme Coppel: a champion in the peloton

From cross-country skiing to top-level cycling

Jérôme Coppel hasn't always been on two wheels. Before spending ten years as a professional cyclist, he spent a decade on skis, as a top-level cross-country skier.
" To prepare for the ski seasons, we did a lot of cycling. I got a taste for racing in 2002 and 2003, before switching completely to cycling in 2004."
Sport runs in the Coppel family: his father was already a top-level cyclist in the late 70s.

An impressive track record

French Junior, Espoirs and Professional time trial champion, bronze medallist at the World Championships, 13ᵉ of the Tour de France in 2011...
In ten years with the pros, Jérôme has also racked up victories on the Étoile de Bessèges, the Tour du Doubs, the Tour de Murcie and the Rhône Alpes Isère Tour. And with six participations in the Tour de France, he knows what "managing an effort" means.

Always at the heart of cycling

Today, Jérôme passes on his passion through his PowerWatts Switzerland indoor cycling training centers and his PT Coaching Academy training school.
" What motivates me is staying in shape and riding with members, giving them technical advice and helping them to progress. "
At the same time, he is a trainer for endurance sports and a consultant for RMC Sport, where he comments on major cycling races.

Transju'Cyclo Ambassador

While he's no stranger to cycling, Jérôme has also already had a taste of the Transju'... cross-country skiing version, in 2023!
What convinced him to become an ambassador for the Transju'Cyclo? To share my experience on terrain I know well, with top-notch organization."
On D-Day, he'll be on the ground to offer technical, physical and nutritional advice, and help everyone have the best possible experience. And this year, you'll find him on the 70 km course.

Jérôme's tips for participants

👉 Before the race: train for the distance and gradient of the event at least once a week, with one or two specific sessions.

👉 D-Day: stay relaxed, stay well hydrated, start eating quickly and manage your effort right from the start.

👉 After the finish: drink, eat, and why not a massage or some electro-stimulation to speed up recovery.

The Transju', much more than a race

For Jérôme, "La Transju' is a myth. Initially associated with cross-country skiing, the organization has broadened its horizons with trail and cyclo. " It's a guarantee of know-how, competence and an atmosphere that's both friendly and serious.
And to convince the last doubters to sign up: "The Transju'Cyclo is accessible to all, with adapted routes and even the possibility of branching off if your legs aren't so good on the big day. You'll leave with a smile on your face and plenty of memories in your head!

📅 S ee you on September 6 & 7, 2025 in Champagnole, for the 4th edition of the Transju'Cyclo!
