Meet our ambassador Stéphane BOUTHIAUX
" It's a superb event in magnificent scenery. - Meet Stéphane BOUTHIAUX, ambassador for La Transju'Cyclo 2025
Today, we meet Stéphane Bouthiaux, a key figure in the biathlon world. Former coach of the French biathlon team for 11 years, he led the French team, including Martin Fourcade and Vincent Jay, to the top of the world and Olympic rankings.
A native of Pontarlier, he is currently director of the discipline for the French Ski Federation.
Cycling, an integral part of everyday life
For Stéphane, cycling is an integral part of his daily routine.
" Pleasure, cross-training, fitness... the three are inseparable." Today, it's above all for pleasure that he continues to ride, on the roads of the Jura and Haut-Doubs regions, where he's been training for over 40 years.
"I started when I was 12-13, with friends in the village"
Since then, he has never stopped: cycling has become an invaluable tool for physical maintenance, mental escape and sensations. A perfect playground, complementary to cross-country skiing, for maintaining a good level of endurance.
An exceptional track record
Three-time French biathlon sprint champion, world medalist and World Cup podium winner in Oslo in 1991, Stéphane went on to make history as a coach: 7 crystal globes with Martin Fourcade, 8 Olympic titles (including the mixed relay in PyeongChang in 2018), dozens of world podiums...
A passionate ambassador
"The Transju' is a mythical name for all Jura and even French skiers"
Stéphane knows the event well: the Transju'Cyclo routes are the ones he's been riding for over 40 years. His attachment to the region is strong and natural.
"It's a superb event in magnificent scenery on mostly quiet roads. A committed ambassador, Stéphane will be present at the 2025 edition, in Champagnole.
Her advice to participants
Stéphane was also keen to pass on a few simple, effective recommendations to all those about to set off:
👉 Preparation: "Choose a distance you're capable of completing in good conditions. Don't bite off more than you can chew!"
👉 D-Day: "Be careful at the start, keep your pace in check. That's the key to getting to the finish with a smile on your face."
Why register for the Transju'Cyclo?
Stéphane sums up the essence of the event:
"The profile is accessible to all, but also sufficiently selective for those who want to challenge themselves." Above all, it's an opportunity to experience the Transju' spirit, in a warm and friendly atmosphere in the heart of an exceptional region.
📅 S ee you on September 6 & 7, 2025 in Champagnole, for the 4th edition of the Transju'Cyclo!
